It is a privilege and blessing to be able to help another person.
As a dentist, I am constantly reminded of the positive impact I can have on people’s lives. Whether providing education, relieving discomfort, restoring function, or making a smile more pleasing, I know that what I do is helping the individual.
I strive to provide a pleasant experience for each person, always attentive to their unique concerns. With an individual treatment plan, and a focus on lasting results that improve the person’s oral and overall health, I hope to improve their enjoyment of life.
Education and Experience
I chose to become a dentist because my father, Dr. Ronald Watanabe, is my hero. When you’re a kid and you start a new school year there is always the first roll call. By the time the teacher finally got to Watanabe, many times they would say, “Watanabe, is your father a dentist?” It was always a good feeling to see that my dad gave something special to my name, even in the 6th grade!
I attended Case Western Reserve University, graduating with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2006.
Having grown up in Irvine, it was important for me to come home after dental school to be with family and do what I can to support my community. I am fortunate to have my father, who started this practice in 1980, as my mentor.
Our family moved to Irvine when there were still orange groves, Irvine Meadows was the place to watch a concert, and you used the drive-up stairs to board an airplane at John Wayne. I grew up running the halls of this dental office and feel honored to now practice here.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
I am an active member of the:
- American Dental Association
- California Dental Association
- Orange County Dental Association
Through these organizations and study groups I participate in a variety of continuing education opportunities. Staying current on the latest innovations, new technology, and changes in methodologies ensures I am providing patients with the best of modern dentistry.
Beyond the Office
Outside of dentistry, my life is filled up with family. My wife Jenni and I have three young kids: Matthew, Weston, and Kate. We live in the Woodbridge community in Irvine and attend Mariners Church. In my spare time, I enjoy working out and coaching youth sports. I also follow sports teams, including the Angels, Lakers, Cleveland sports, and from my college days at Berkeley: Go Bears!
